For this week’s post, an interview with Senior Developer, Filipe. Joining the team in April of 2021, Filipe works as a full stack engineer. He builds out new features, oversees the application development in its entirety, and leads a team of additional software engineers. What drew him to inBuild?

For this week’s blog, I had the privilege of interviewing Senior Developer, Filipe. Filipe joined the inBuild team in April of 2021 and the software has continued to improve each day since. If you are new here, inBuild is a software that is designed to automate the accounts payable process in construction finances. Filipe works as a full stack engineer, where he builds out new features, oversees the application development in its entirety, and a team lead to the additional software engineers.

For this interview, I was able to ask Filipe three questions regarding why he chose software engineering as a career, how he was able to build out inBuild, and finally where he see’s the future of inBuild.

What drew you to becoming a software engineer?

Since I was a kid, I always wanted to be a software engineer. I would dissemble computers to learn the innerworkings of them as a hobby. In addition, I was fascinated by video games and wanted to learn how they are developed. In high school, I learned how to program and java script. Then, I went to university and got a degree in software engineering.

How did you manage building out inBuild from scratch? What was your approach?

At first, my focus was to choose a robust framework to support the infrastructure of inBuild. After building out the framework, I now take baby steps and focus on one thing at a time.

Filipe

Where do you see inBuild’s software going in the future?

Filipe smiled and answered candidly,

A pain in the ass for the competition! inBuild has the potential of being the number one used construction financial processing software worldwide.

After my interview with Filipe, I was curious to know how the software has changed since he joined the development team. I asked Ty Sharp, CEO and co-founder of inBuild, he said,

Since Filipe joined in April of 2021, inBuild has matured significantly and has become a very reliable and secure accounts payable software for our customers.
